Helping Haiti

Thursday, January 14th 2010 @ 11:11 AM    post viewed 2893 times

Dear HTWF family,

Many of you must already be aware that a devastating earthquake hit Haiti and spared nothing. Haiti needs our help. Even though HTWF cant administratively help them, we want our members to participate actively in helping.

Please follow our tweets, where we will be constantly updating you all on how to help Haiti. Our twitter account is www.twitter.com/healtheworldfdn

Around 40 organizations are active in Haiti helping in disaster relief. These organizations have branches in many places in the world. Please contact the organizations locally and ask if they need help in packaging food, medicines, clothing etc. If you have vacations that you have accumulated, take a day or two for volunteering. This will speedup the process. Also do spend this one weekend volunteering for these organizations.

And finally the most important thing to do is to pray. Prayer creates tremendous amount of positive energy that is required at the moment.

Thanks

Dear HTWF Staff,

Thank you for this message and the links to the organizations.   I'm keeping Haiti in my thoughts and prayers.  This is the time where it's important for everyone to band together to help and give in any way they can.

Peace and love.  Innocent

Hello everybody:-))) .. finally I´m back again.

And to the HTW- Team: Very special Thanks  for you post  concerning the terrible disaster in Haiti. I´m so sad about what happened, have no words :-(((.

Sadly, despite financial donations  and distributing flyers I´m not really sure how to support those in need. Tomorrow I will ask wheater organisations like "red cross" are accepting material donations ( clother etc...) as well.

I will let you know, as soon as I get the answer.

Up to then I wish you all the best, Martina

Thank you for the information.

Watching the reports on Haiti on TV makes me cry and pray every day. It´s so horrible and unbelievable, hard to conceive.

We can fly to the moon, we build skyscrapers and five-storey shopping malls and we think big... until nature strikes. Then we are back to what really counts. I´m very grateful that a lot of nations and organizations have helped Haiti. However, they have only just begun and there are still people in Haiti who say they haven´t had any help yet. Nothing to eat, nowhere to go, no fresh water. It makes me cry to see men and women digging with their hands trying to find survivors under the rocks and ruins.

I´m lost for words.

Simone

 Hello, it´s me again.

As promised I´m going to let you know, wheater it is possible to donate clothes to the "red cross".

I´m really sorry not being able to tell you good news but the"red cross"- lady on the phone told me they don´t accept clothes at all because of the expenses of transport for reason of hygiene. It´s a real sad situation, people there need clothes and food so bad and they don´t have anything.

Tonight there was a charity event on German televison where they raised money for the victims of this terrible earthquake exclusively. Finally they almost reached the 20 Mio. Euro mark, but to see all those terrible pictures is so sad because these make you know: even 20 mio. euro ain´t nothing in a situation like this. Money is terribly needed but money will never cure all those wounded souls and it needs more then money to make those poor people smile again.

If some of you know about another way to help, please let me know, because I´would be glad to participate to.  It really hurts to see them suffer.

Thank you staff of HTWF ,

Soon after the first day of Haiti tragedy , I made donations to some Humanitarian Associations involved with the help .

I wish to give  special thanks to all those people that are directly helping Haiti , giving all themselves there : fire-brigades , doctors , volunteers , military troupes  etc.  everybody there with a big heart and courage in this mission .  A particular thought in my mind  went to all the lost and abandoned children  .  Few days ago I proceeded with  a “ children village adoption “ in Haiti , one that likely has not been so much destroyed by the earthquake and which is still shelter for  many children and even other  inhabitants right now with the current devastated situation .  I hope with this kind of  supports  constantly and permanently  assured each month , the village can count on basic contribution to keep on assisting  and growing  those children up safe with  love and with  the necessary .

Haiti need a constant and lasting help besides to the support of this immediate  hard  emergency .

Sincerily ,

Greta

I pray every day for the people in Haiti. And for the children. Some of them lost their parents and some people want to adopt them, BUT they do not follow the legislation of adoption. I think giving these poor children help is the most important thing in this moment. I read that there were cases when some organizations took children away, because they believed the children were orphans. Fortunately, authorities found the children and it appeared that some of the children had surviving parents. I am so sorry for these poor children. I think it is not the right moment for people who want to adopt kids from Haiti to insist. First of all, these children need food, medical support, clothes, a shelter and a lot of love and care.

Love, Violeta
